Merry Christmas!

It’s our first official Christmas as newlyweds, and we truly feel blessed following an exciting and eventful 2012.

A big part of the past year was, of course, our wedding on September 21. We thank you all again for your kindness, thoughtfulness, and well wishes as we celebrated this important milestone.

Matt has continued in his role as imaging director for the Clear Channel cluster of radio stations in Omaha. A number of video and audio projects for clients and friends alike (under Matt’s new side business, Two Brothers Creative) have kept his creative brain (and personality!) buzzing throughout the year.

Matt and his brother, Ben, host “The Matt and Ben Show” at 1 p.m. Saturdays on 1110 KFAB. On some Saturdays, I even join them on the air! The topics focus on current events blended with their signature sense of humor.

This past fall I celebrated my one-year anniversary as a campaign manager with the Steier Group. My work has kept me largely in Kansas each week: from Salina to Olathe to Lansing. In my role with the Steier Group, I manage feasibility studies and capital campaigns for our nonprofit clients. And although I’ve spent countless hours in Kansas (Wildcat and Jayhawk territory), I forever remain a UNO Maverick.

Speaking of UNO, I continue to teach part-time for the School of Communication. Each semester, in Media Storytelling I, I work to transform about sixteen undergraduate students into budding backpack journalists. Teaching has turned into a wonderful side “project” that keeps my hunger for journalism alive. The students are eager and motivated. What could be better than returning to my alma mater each and every week?

Matt and I will wrap up 2012 with a trip to sun-soaked Cancun for a friend’s destination wedding. Our tropical getaway just happens to coincide with my 34th (gasp!) birthday.

We wish you continued health, happiness, and plenty of laughter in 2013.
